Is the US Dollar really worth so much? What is keeping it at such a high level? Its crude oil! Because crude oil is traded in dollars. And the whole world needs crude oil – the black gold -  and hence they need US dollars to buy it.  To get US dollars, countries have to export commodities to the USA.
